Provincial Minister for
Irrigation Malik Ahmad Ali has directed the PIDA management to prepare proposals
regarding the transparent elections of Area Water Boards, disputed issues of
irrigation sector and the required amendments in the Farmers Organizations
Rules 2010.
He was presiding over the
44th PIDA Authority meeting in the committee room of Irrigation Department.

the representative of Finance,
P&D, Irrigation and Agriculture Departments were also present in the
meeting.
Malik Ahmed Ali has said
that the Punjab Irrigation and Drainage Authority was established under PIDA
Act 1997 to improve the equitable irrigation
supplies with the participation of farmers. He directed to strictly
follow the PIDA Rules and Regulations for transparent elections of Farmers
Organizations (FOs) and Area Water Boards (AWB) members. The Authority also
empowered the General Manager (TM) PIDA
to hear the appeals related to AWB elections. The Authority also reviewed
the issues of 15% adhoc relief due to PIDA employees since July 2011 and the regularization of PIDA staff in
detail. The Authority also granted the extension in contracts to all PIDA
employees beyond 30.06.2012.
The Minister said that
Punjab government is fully aware about with the problems of employees and Chief
Minister Punjab is keen interested to solve their problems. He said that we
believe in to facilitate government employees so that they could better
perform.
